Noordin Street House is no stranger when it comes to Penang. Right after we checked out from East Indies Mansion, we drove straight to our next hotel which is of course, Noordin Street House and it only took us about 10 minutes to arrive since it is located in Georgetown as well. I’m always keen on staying at a boutique hotel especially when an indoor pool and a rooftop garden are built inside the 2 storey Straits Chinese style hotel. How interesting!
We arrived on a one sunny day and really look forward to our room as the receptionist showed us the way. We chose ‘Silk’ room (RM380++) for the night as it occupies all four of us nicely. However, I had high expectation for this hotel due to the recognitions that they received from Tripadvisor & Booking.com. But it doesn’t live up to the hype because 1) the way to my room is by walking up to a really tight space with small stairs which leads to an attic with 2 bedrooms attached. The guys had quite a problem lifting up and down our baggage. Haha. 2) I’m not so sure whether to call my room homey or just oldie. The room was clean but it just looks a bit outdated to me. 3) Faulty air-cond! It felt humid when we turned it on so we called the staff to fix it. They didn’t come to our room right away and when they ‘think’ they have fix the air-cond which obviously they didn’t, we just pressed whatever button is on the remote control and only then we could slowly feel the cooling air around our room. 5) There were no buffet spread during breakfast and when we requested something on the menu, the staff didn’t seem to understand what we were saying and it looked as if he himself had a problem explaining to us about the food.
But my experience wasn’t all that bad. I love the rooftop garden although there were no spectacular view other than a big fat shopping mall standing just a few miles ahead of us. Hehe. But just hanging out at night talking to each other where we could see stars just above our head was nice 🙂 I didn’t get a chance to swim a few laps in the swimming pool as I was busy taking pictures everywhere but the guys seemed like they had a lot of fun in the pool though and free breakfast for all staying guests is always a good thing 😉
